KEYNOTE 15:30 – 16:30

Nigel Redman, Head of Performance Team Development for British Swimming

Born in Cardiff, 1964, Nigel Redman achieved 20 international caps in an illustrious 14-year career playing in the second row for England. Nigel Redman made his international debut in November 1984 and played his last England game in July 1997, both against Australia. He was a member of the World Cup teams in 1987 and again in 1991.

He also toured with Martin Johnson’s victorious British Lions in South Africa in 1997 and was a member of The Barbarian. He made 350 appearances for Bath, including 10 RFU Senior Cup Final wins, six League titles and one European Cup final win. Nigel Redman is now the Head of Performance Team Development at British Swimming. In addition to his nationwide coaching duties he is a commentator for Sky TV’s rugby coverage, providing expert comment in support of fellow international Stuart Barnes.

KEYNOTE 12:30 – 13:30

Naomi Riches, Guinness World Record holder, 2012 Paralympic Champion, Motivational Speaker and Development Consultant at Thomas International

Naomi Riches was part of the Great Britain Para-Rowing team for a decade, where she competed in the Mixed Coxed Fours, until she retired in 2013. Her legacy includes winning medals at national, world and Paralympic level during her time in the sport, including a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games and a gold at the London 2012 Paralympics. Naomi was awarded an MBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List for her ‘Services to Rowing’.

Naomi has been a motivational speaker in schools since 2008, using her story to inspire and empower young people to achieve their goals and dreams. As a result of this, Naomi progressed to work with Thomas Education as well as Thomas Sport and in August 2015, became a Thomas Sport and Education Development Consultant. This role gives her the opportunity to work very closely with clients to help them achieve results using the Thomas tools.

KEYNOTE 11:15 – 12:15

Ed Jackson, Former Rugby Star and Motivational Speaker

Ed Jackson’s professional rugby career spanned ten years. He played for Bath, Wasps, London Welsh and the Gwent Dragons before suffering a spinal cord injury In April 2017, which left him paralysed. Since then, he has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation and has defied the odds after being told he may never walk again. Ed now takes the opportunity to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries, mentor others going through similar hardships and fund-raise for the charities that have helped him. This included walking to the summit of Mount Snowdon just 12 months after the accident, raising over £20K for charity in the process.

Alongside his rehab Ed is currently studying for an MSc in real estate management and speaks publicly about his story and the lessons he has learnt.
