Overcoming Adversity – Bridging the Unemployment Gap

Paul Vice, Imployable

Paul Vice MC, joined the Royal Marines at the age of 16 and was already serving on the frontline in Afghanistan one year later. He has since been on 6 operational tours across Iraq and Afghanistan, becoming Corporal at only 21.

In August 2011 Paul’s life took a turn for the worse when he was blown up by an improvised explosive device, killing him twice. Following this accident, Paul suffered a leg amputation, a severed carotid artery, a broken neck, right arm paralysis, brain damage and partial sight loss in one eye. But the experience has actually changed his life for the better.

Paul has been awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at Buckingham Palace and has gone on to represent Britain at the London World Cup, and the London and Orlando Invictus games where he won 8 medals. He has also set a world record for the fastest summit of Mount Kilimanjaro after only 11 months from his amputation.

More recently, Paul has been splitting his time between life skills coaching for the prison service and Exeter Chiefs HITZ program, public speaking events and racing in the British GT series. For the past year, he has helped develop an app which will change the way employment, training and career development are viewed forever, helping people who have had troubles in life unlock their fullest potential and achieve the things that matter to them the most.
